No break: This is what Sinner's schedule looks like

Immediately after his defeat in the final in Beijing, Jannik Sinner travelled to Shanghai with Carlos Alcaraz. The Sextner will soon be back on the tennis court there.

According to various media reports, the tournament organizers in Shanghai are giving Sinner and Alcaraz an extra day off. That's why the two have to start on Saturday rather than Friday. As usual, Sinner received a bye in the first round of the Masters tournament. In the second round - probably on Saturday morning (CET) - he will face the Japanese Taro Daniel.

The world number 91 has already played against Sinner once. In 2022 at the Australian Open, the Pusterer won in four sets. Daniel is now 31 years old. Ben Shelton (ATP 16) could then be waiting for Sinner in the round of 8. In the round of the last XNUMX, he would then face Daniil Medvedev, before a reunion with Alcaraz is scheduled for the semifinals. Who would be left in the final? Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev or Taylor Fritz.

Sinner remains virtually unassailable in the world rankings, with a lead of 4.000 points. Until the end of the year, the 23-year-old's place in the sun can only be taken away theoretically. The Masters in Shanghai lasts until next Sunday, October 13th.

Four more tournaments after Shanghai

Sinner will then play in the invitational tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (October 16 to 19). The South Tyrolean will then concentrate on the Masters in Paris-Bercy (October 28 to November 3), the ATP Finals in Turin (November 10 to 17) and the Davis Cup Finals (November 19 to 24). As a result, the 2024 tennis year will then be over.
