Next bad news: Things are getting tough for Djokovic

These are not easy days for tennis superstar Novak Djokovic. On Tuesday he announced his withdrawal from the French Open, now the Serb has to swallow the next bitter pill.

Djokovic injured his knee in his French Open round of 1 against Francisco Cerundolo. The Serb dragged himself through the match and even managed to win it, but the next day he announced his withdrawal from the Grand Slam tournament. This means Djokovic has his place on the tennis throne, i.e. number XNUMX in the world rankings, lost to Jannik Sinner.

Examinations have shown that the 24-time Grand Slam winner suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee. This injury requires surgery. Like the French sports newspaper The Team Reportedly, the 37-year-old went under the knife in a Paris clinic on Wednesday to undergo the surgical procedure.

He's skipping Wimbledon

Djokovic will therefore be out for a few weeks. The Team According to him, he is skipping the grass classic in Wimbledon at the beginning of July, instead he is betting everything on the Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris from July 27th.

Djokovic has won everything in his career – the only thing he is missing is Olympic gold. Over the past few months he has made no secret of the fact that he wants to make this dream come true this year. It remains to be seen how his knee reacts after the operation.
