Shanghai: Sinner waits and Musetti disappoints

After his bronze medal at the Olympic Games, things are still not going as planned for Lorenzo Musetti: the Italian was also eliminated early in Shanghai.

Musetti was eliminated in the third round of the US Open, in the round of 500 at the ATP 18 tournament in Beijing and now in the second round at the Masters in Shanghai. For the world number XNUMX, the hard court season so far has been one to forget. On Monday, Musetti was defeated by Belgian David Goffin in three sets.

After two and a half hours of play, the world number 66 left the court as the winner. Another disappointment for Musetti, who is now losing further ground in the Race to Turin. The ATP Finals in Turin in November could therefore take place without the 22-year-old.

Sinner is waiting for his opponent

Jannik Sinner will probably be the only player from Italy who will play at home in the finals. The Sextner is already in the round of 16 in Shanghai. But Sinner does not yet know his opponent because the match between Ben Shelton (USA) and Roberto Carballes Baena (ESP) had to be postponed from Monday to Tuesday (CET) due to the persistent rain. Sinner's round of 16 match is therefore provisionally scheduled for Wednesday.
