Like clockwork: Sinner enchants Turin

Jannik Sinner was already a semi-finalist before the third group match against Daniil Medvedev. But the Sextner secured his group victory with another demonstration of power on Thursday evening.

Is this Jannik Sinner still from this world? The South Tyrolean won his group in a confident manner at the ATP Finals in Turin, where the best 8 tennis players of the year meet. Sinner did not have to give up a single set. On Thursday evening, the world number defeated Daniil Medvedev 6:3 and 6:4 in the third group match.

Sinner never left any doubt as to who would ultimately be the group winner. After just 33 minutes, when Sinner had wrapped up the first round, he was already the leader of his group. Medvedev was eliminated at the same time. After that, it was all about honor. The fans in Turin were certainly beside themselves this week because of their superstar's performance. Sinner-Mania can continue!

Taylor Fritz has now secured second place in the group. Medvedev would have had to beat Sinner in two sets to reach the semi-finals on Thursday evening. However, the Russian is currently unable to do this against the overpowering Pusterer. Sinner needed just 1 hour 15 minutes to beat Medvedev this time.

Who will be the opponent?

Sinner will play in one of the two semi-finals on Saturday. His opponent will not be determined until Friday. It will be one of the quartet Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev - namely the second-placed player in the group. Zverev, the only one to win twice, is currently leading the rankings ahead of Ruud, Alcaraz and Rublev. On Friday, the German will face Alcaraz at 14 p.m. Ruud and Rublev will then face each other in the evening.
