Will Daniel Grassl be banned for two years?

He is one of the greatest sports talents in South Tyrol. But now Daniel Grassl is threatened with trouble: a two-year ban is being demanded against him.

Daniel Grassl is South Tyrol's best figure skater. Not only that: the 2022 European vice-champion is on his way to becoming the world leader. But now the 21-year-old from Merano is facing a long forced break. The national anti-doping agency is calling for a two-year ban against the youngster. This is reported by several Italian news agencies.

The reason for this: Grassl is said to have missed three doping controls. The World Anti-Doping Code stipulates that such an offense will result in a ban of two years. Grassl will therefore have to answer before the national anti-doping court. The Merano native is currently not allowed to take part in competitions due to the ongoing proceedings. It is still unclear when the court hearing will take place.
