Although the Olympic champion in Beijing did not fall, the worst was immediately assumed because the Swiss woman screamed in pain.

As the Swiss Ski Association announced on Friday evening, examinations at the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich revealed a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and an injury to the inner meniscus in the left knee. “Corinne will be operated on at the Hirslanden Clinic on Saturday. If the healing progresses as planned, she will be able to return to racing as normal next winter,” explains Swiss team doctor Walter O. Frey.

Fear for Gisin

Shiffrin was luckier in her fall because according to initial investigations The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in the left knee are intact, the US association wrote. A break of several weeks seems realistic. The 28-year-old is still waiting for a final diagnosis. The situation is similar with Michelle Gisin, who also fell and decided not to start on Saturday.
