Happy event for ski queen.

Star skier after marriage proposal: “Damn, I’m getting old”

Slowly but surely the ski stars are starting to prepare for the new season. One or two top skiers are tackling the upcoming World Cup winter with a special accessory.

At the end of April it was announced that Norway's ski star Ragnhild Mowinckel got engaged. “You are now tied to me for life,” the 30-year-old wrote at the time about a photo that showed her with her partner Mathias Tangenes. Now the speed specialist has commented on this happy event for the first time.

“It was very nice,” says Mowinckel VG, but also emphasizes with a wink: “I had the feeling that we immediately gained 10.000 adult points. I went from being someone who was just floating around in life to thinking, 'Damn, I'm getting old.'”

Mowinckel received the marriage proposal quite unspectacularly at home - and she is very happy about it. “There was no flash mob on the street or anything. Luckily, because I would have died there,” she smiles and adds: “It was very cozy, very pleasant and perfect for us.”

Really blossomed

It is not yet clear when the wedding will take place. Mowinckel is currently concentrating on her sporting career anyway. This really picked up speed again last season. The Norwegian won the Super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo and took bronze in the World Cup giant slalom. This was a reward for Mowinckel, as she had had to deal with bad luck with injuries in previous years. However, she doesn't want to ski forever; she has already emphasized in interviews that the Olympic Games in Beijing were her last.
