The Swiss woman announced her withdrawal after the viewing because she “simply did not feel 100 percent fit,” she said in an interview with SRFGut-Behrami had to fight a severe bout of flu in preparation for the race, and afterwards she had problems with her knee.

Gut-Behrami would have been one of the top favorites to win on Saturday. The 33-year-old has already won three times on the Rettenbachferner - including last year. In an interview with ORF, Gut-Behrami had to hold back a few tears: "I'm just not ready today. I definitely don't want to risk an injury just because I'm not fit. The risk is just too high for me."
