Mikaela Shiffrin: Now only two are missing

Mikaela Shiffrin is unstoppable in the new World Cup season. The American showed a demonstration of her strength in the Levi slalom.

Shiffrin celebrated her 98th(!) World Cup victory on Saturday. Now she is only two more victories away from the magical 100 mark, which she could reach in two weeks at the home World Cup in Killington. Shiffrin defended her lead from the first run in Levi and won with a lead of 79 hundredths of a second over Katharina Liensberger from Vorarlberg.

For Shiffrin, it is her 8th victory in Levi. The 29-year-old is now getting her next reindeer. Third place went to Lena Dürr from Germany and fourth place went to Sweden's Anna Swenn-Larsson. With the exception of the injured Petra Vlhova, the best slalom skiers of the present day are now at the top.

As in previous years, the Azzurre have nothing to gain in the slalom this year. Martina Peterlini (17th) was the only one who even took part in the second run. South Tyrolean Vera Tschurtschenthaler, on the other hand, clearly missed the final in 52nd place. The World Cup weekend in Levi will conclude on Sunday with the men's slalom. The races start at 10 a.m. and 13 p.m.
