Austrian ski talent seriously injured

For an Austrian speed specialist, the new season is already over before it has even begun.

For Emily Schöpf, the Alpine World Cup season is over before it even starts. According to the ÖSV, the Vorarlberg native fell during Super-G training in Valle Nevado (Chile). An examination after her return to Innsbruck on Wednesday revealed that the 24-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus tear in her left knee.

Schöpf will be operated on at the Hochrum clinic on Sunday. She will have to take a break for several months and will therefore miss the upcoming World Cup and World Cup season. The Austrian won two races and took two second places in the European Cup last year. This year, Schöpf actually wanted to take the next step in the World Cup.
