Weather doesn't cooperate: No training possible in Zermatt

On Wednesday the first downhill training took place in Zermatt-Cervinia in ideal conditions. However, a day later no practice run is possible. The reason is the weather.

Already on Thursday morning it was decided that the second downhill training on the Gran Becca could not be started from the very top (3720m) due to strong gusts of wind. Instead, the women's start should start at 3500m. A short time later, the FIS announced that the start of training would be brought forward from 11.30:11 a.m. to XNUMX a.m.

When Ryan Cochran-Siegle was finally supposed to open training with start number 1, it was decided that despite all efforts he would not be able to start. The wind was too strong - especially in the upper part of the route - and snow began to fall. The weather could also put a damper on the new descent on the Matterhorn in the coming days. On the one hand, a lot of new snow has been announced, and on the other hand, the time of year means that there is a lot of wind blowing on the glacier.
