Winter sports ticker | Strong two-seaters

The first winter sports weekend after the turn of the year is in full swing. You can find out what's happening outside of the giant slaloms in Adelboden and Kranjska Gora as well as the biathlon competitions in Oberhof with the winter sports ticker.


ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING: After Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer's podium finish (see below), the men also shone in the doubles competition. Ivan Nagler (Lungiarü) and Fabian Malleier (Völlan) narrowly missed the podium in fourth place at the World Cup in Winterberg. This is the second time in a row that the two young South Tyroleans have taken fourth place. The more experienced Emanuel Rieder (Meransen) and Simon Kainzwaldner (Villanders) equaled their best result of the season in sixth place. Ludwig Rieder (Meransen) and Lukas Gufler (Platt) took eleventh place. The Austrians Juri Gatt and Riccardo Schöpf took the victory, preventing a German double victory. The Toboggan World Cup in Winterberg ends on Sunday with the men's singles and the team relay.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: Harald Østberg Amundsen is the big hunted man going on the monster climb to the Alpe di Cermis on Sunday at the end of the Tour de Ski. The Norwegian took sixth place in the freestyle competition over 15 kilometers in Fiemme Valley on Epiphany. His Norwegian compatriot Erik Valnes secured the victory. South Tyrol's model cross-country skier Dietmar Nöckler fell shortly before the end and ended up in 37th place. Italy's big star, Federico Pellegrino, pulled out of the tour in the morning due to feeling unwell. In the women's race, the Swede Linn Svahn took the mass start victory, the American Jessie Diggins goes into the final stage as the overall leader.

ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING:
Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer competed in the doubles on Saturday second place in Winterberg achieved the best result of the season. In the individual competition, things didn't go so well for the South Tyroleans. Sandra Robatscher reached 11th place as the best local athlete. Nina Zöggeler had to settle for 16th place, Verena Hofer ended up outside the top 20. The victory went to the Austrian Madeleine Egle, who prevailed ahead of Julia Taubitz (Germany) and her compatriot Hannah Prock.
