Exciting bowling derby: Lana defeats Nals

In the end, only 6 pins were to decide the match: Because Lana had the better result in the overall score, they won 5:3. After the duels, the score was 3:3 and all eyes were fixed on the scoreboard showing the overall result. And lo and behold: Lana had knocked down 3394 pins, Nals 3388 pins. So Lana was awarded the last two match points and won 5:3.

But first things first: In the first duel, Szabolcs Tòt from Nals and Georg Plaickner (Lana) met. Plaickner got off to a strong start and won 3 out of 4 sets. He scored 600 pins, Tòt 581. So the first point went to Lana. Nals hit back straight away, Christian Mocanu won the duel against Christian Gruber with 579:565 pins (2:2 in set points) and thus equalized again.

Next up were Kurt Plunger (Nals) and Johann Rungaldier (Lana). And there was a gala performance from Plunger: Paulsner swept an incredible 628 pins off the lane in the Nals ranks, making him not only the best of the day, but also finishing off Rungaldier with 4:0 in set points. The Lana player scored 572 pins. Roland Lechner (Nals) and Hannes Pichler (Lana) were on the lane in the 4th duel. This time Lana fought back and secured the match point after Pichler defeated Lechner with 557:498 pins (3:1 in set points).

The match was open again and Karl Egger turned it in Lana's favor in the duel against Horst Steinhauser. Egger cracked the magic mark with 601 pins, secured 3 set points and defeated Steinhauser, who had 577 pins.

The last duel was between Franz Menghini from Nals and Reinhard Obergasteiger from Lanan. Here Menghini had the better hand, he knocked down 525 pins and beat Obergasteiger, who knocked down 499 pins.

However, Nals’ joy over the last match point did not last long, because, as already mentioned, the overall result was in Lana’s favor.

Plose surprises everyone This victory is somewhat surprising, but by no means undeserved: Plose brought the top team Tirol Mutspitz to their knees with a 4:2 victory and, above all, showed a rock-solid team performance. Annemarie Prenn & Co. shone in the home game last Thursday with an average of 539,5 pins.

Tirol Mutspitz took the lead thanks to a masterful performance by Silvia Gasser. She defeated Plose bowler Verena Fischer with 558:522 pins (4:0 in set points). Petra Stockner responded with a 4:0 set win against Dora Rinner (Tirol Mutspitz). Stockner scored 543 pins and Rinner 508 pins.

The third duel was much closer: Verena Gostner (Plose) and Helene Gamper (Tirol Mutspitz) had a very exciting head-to-head race, which ultimately went to Gamper due to a difference of one pin. Both won 2 sets each, Gamper ended up with 532 pins and Gostner "only" 531 pins. If the set points are equal, the match point goes to the player with the higher pin score.

In the last set, Annemarie Prenn was on the track for Plose and Gabriele Gamper for Tirol Mutspitz. Prenn delivered the best performance of the day at exactly the right moment: she scored a strong 562 pins and defeated Gamper 562:538 (3:1 in set points). So the score was 2:2 after the duels and the overall result had to decide. This was in favor of Plose with 2158:2136 pins and the celebrated home victory was perfect.

In bowling, it's often the little things that make the difference. That was the case last Friday: Nals - which plays its home games here - and Lana met at the Bozen parish hall.
