Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs suffer another defeat

The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered another setback in the race for a playoff spot in the American football league NFL.

The injury-plagued team, led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, lost 10-20 at home to the Houston Texas and now has a record of six wins and seven losses. This is their worst record after 13 games since 2012.

Mahomes failed to complete a touchdown pass and committed three turnovers, one of them late in the game when Kansas City still had a chance to tie the game. "They're a good football team," he said of the victorious Houston. "But we had opportunities and didn't capitalize on them at the right time to win the game."

On their way to the Super Bowl last season, the Chiefs defeated the Texans. Since 2020, Kansas City has reached the final five times and won the trophy three times. "We still have a chance, even if it's a small one," said defensive tackle Chris Jones. "The door is still open for us."

Denver extends winning streak

The Denver Broncos, against whom Kansas City still has to play, recorded their tenth consecutive victory with a 24-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Quarterback Bo Nix threw for 212 yards and scored a touchdown himself. For the Broncos, it was their eleventh win of the season with only two losses. Las Vegas quarterback Geno Smith left the field in the third quarter due to injuries to his right hand and shoulder.
