In another sport: Tom Brady returns

Football legend Tom Brady is making his comeback – not in American football, but in another sport.

Tom Brady (48) is returning to the football field for a mini-tournament in the new Olympic version of flag football. The most successful player in NFL history, with seven Super Bowl titles, will compete in Saudi Arabia on March 21. At the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, he will be on the field alongside current NFL stars such as Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles and Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers, as well as celebrities from the entertainment industry.

The Fanatics Flag Football Classic will premiere in Riyadh. "This is a multi-year commitment," Brady said at a press conference in Las Vegas on Monday. "We're obviously off to a good start. A lot of attention and energy is focused on this first year."

What is flag football?

Flag football will be included in the Olympic program for the first time at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The NFL has since promoted the sport even more intensively and wants to enable professionals to represent their home countries at the Summer Games. Flag football is a low-contact version of American football in which, instead of tackles, a flag is pulled from the ball carrier's belt to stop the play.
