The NFL has a new top earner

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has agreed to a lucrative contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the North American football league NFL.

The television station ESPN According to the report, the 24-year-old will earn an average of $2026 million (just over 55 million euros) annually from 51, making him the highest-paid quarterback in the league alongside Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.

The contract extension over a period of five years will bring the ball distributor a total of 275 million dollars (a good 256 million euros) until 2030 – 200 million dollars of which are guaranteed. How ESPN reported, Lawrence will receive a signing bonus of $37,5 million (almost 35 million euros).

Mahomes not in the top ranking

The American is only the sixth quarterback in the NFL with an annual salary of more than $50 million. Superstar and three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes is not part of this group: the 28-year-old earns a good $46 million per year.

Lawrence was selected first overall by the Jaguars in the 2021 draft and led his team to win the AFC South just one year later. Jacksonville also started the 2023/24 season strongly. However, after an injury to the quarterback, the Jaguars collapsed and missed the playoffs.
