European Champion: Brixen triathlete causes a sensation

Euan De Nigro: South Tyrolean sports fans must remember this name. The Brixen native achieved a tremendous success on Sunday, and it was no flash in the pan.

It's been known for some time that Euan De Nigro is a talented triathlete. In the summer of 2024, the Brixen native won the gold medal in the U23 category at the European Sprint Championships. This weekend, in Melilla, Spain, on the North African coast, De Nigro showed that this was no flash in the pan.

At the European Sprint Championships (the distances are shorter than the Olympic distance), De Nigro won U23 competition initially bronze and then grabbed the gold medal with the mixed relay team. The 20-year-old from Brixen laughed from the winner's podium alongside Bianca Seregni, Alessio Crociani, and Carlotta Missaglia.

Another milestone in Euan De Nigro's still-young career, and one that also gave himself an early birthday present: On Monday, July 28, he turns 21.
