Verena Steinhauser narrowly missed a top-ten finish at the penultimate World Championship race of the World Triathlon Championship Series (WCTS).

Steinhauser finished 12th on Friday in Weihei, China. The 30-year-old from Brixen/Bressanone completed the 1,5 km swim, 40 km bike ride, and 10 km run in a time of 2:07.10. Steinhauser was just 24 seconds away from a top-ten finish.

German Lisa Tertsch took the win with a time of 2:04.42. Americans Beth Potter and Georgia Taylor-Brown finished second and third, respectively. Alice Betto was the best Azzurra in ninth place. The final of the World Triathlon Championship Series will then take place in Australia.
