De Nigro impresses in Abu Dhabi

The start of the triathlon year took place this weekend in Abu Dhabi. A South Tyrolean won a medal.

Euan De Nigro won the well-deserved bronze medal with the mixed relay at the World Triathlon Championships. Together with Alice Betto, Nicolo Azzano and Bianca Seregni, the top athlete from Sarns near Brixen secured third place on the podium in the mixed relay over 300 m swimming, 6,9 km cycling and 2 km running.


De Nigro started in this World Cup series for the first time and impressed on his debut. The 20-year-old put in an irresistible final sprint as the last runner and secured the Azzurri's success.

In the end, the German relay team triumphed with a time of 1.32,05:1.32,21 hours. The team from the USA followed behind (1.32,24:XNUMX), just ahead of Italy (XNUMX:XNUMX). De Nigro took just four seconds off his Spanish competitor, who came fourth, and celebrated with his teammates at the finish.
