De Nigro proves himself in Uzbekistan

Euan De Nigro competed in his first competition since the beginning of April on Saturday. The Brixen native achieved a top placing at the World Triathlon Cup in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Before his appearance in Uzbekistan, De Nigro last competed at the E-Triathlon World Championships in London. Since then, the 20-year-old has completed an altitude training camp in the Sierra Nevada and prepared for the upcoming challenges – including the race in Samarkand. Some 300 kilometers from the capital of the Central Asian country, De Nigro competed in the Olympic distance (1,5 km swim, 40 km bike ride, 10 km run) and finished in a strong seventh place.

In the final standings, the South Tyrolean was 1:15 minutes behind the French winner Maxime Hueber-Moosbrugger, who finished 1.46:43:0 ahead of Marton Kropko (+15:0/Hungary) and Mathis Beaulieu (+25:0/Canada). The women had already been in action. Diana Isakova snatched the win ahead of Frenchwoman Lea Coninx (+30:0) and Italian Costanza Arpinelli (+32:28). Ilaria Zane finished XNUMX seconds behind in fourth place.

The next stop of the 2025 World Triathlon Cup is in Huatulco, Mexico (June 21-22). Before that, the next stage of the World Triathlon Championship Series will take place in Alghero, Sardinia, on May 31.
