Italy's volleyball players with an uncanny series

The Women's Volleyball World Championship is currently underway in Thailand, and Italy continues to attract attention. The Azzurre's streak is almost uncanny.

After two decisive opening victories against Slovakia and Cuba, Italy defeated Belgium 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 21-25, and 25-18) on Tuesday. Two days ago against Cuba, superstar Paola Egonu and Co. conceded only eight and nine points to their opponents in two sets.

Italy's women's team celebrated their 32nd consecutive competitive victory against Belgium. During this period, coach Julio Velasco's team won the Nations League twice. The 73-year-old Argentinian also helped his team win the Olympic gold medal in Paris last year. Since Velasco took over, Italy has been virtually unbeatable.

Their biggest rivals at this World Cup appear to be Japan, Turkey, and Brazil. In any case, the Azzurre will continue on Saturday with the round of 16. Then, Italy will face either Germany or Poland in Bangkok.
