Thriller in Turkey: foil in the Champions League final

Raphaela Folie can continue to dream of winning the Champions League with Milano. The Missian woman won a real thriller against Fenerbahce Istanbul in the semi-finals on Tuesday evening.

Milano clearly won the first leg 3-0 a week ago. Nevertheless, everything was open, especially since a victory for the Turkish team would result in a so-called golden set deciding whether they would advance. And this is exactly what happened. Fenerbahce won 3:1 (25:15, 26:28, 25:22, 25:25), but Folie & Co. retained the upper hand in the deciding set with 15:11. In the final, Milano will now face either Conegliano or Eczacibasi. Folie's former club won the first leg 3-2.

The South Tyrolean played a significant part in the success with six blocks. Paola Egonu once again became the match winner, contributing a whopping 35 points. She won the duel against Fenerbahce's superstar Melissa Vargas, who scored 29 points. For Egonu it is the fifth Champions League final in a row. Folie was able to lift the most important trophy in European volleyball in 2021 with Conegliano.
