Trento remains strong and crowns itself champion

In a real thriller, the volleyball players from Trento exceeded their own expectations and bagged the sixth championship title in the club's history on Wednesday evening against Civitanova.

Civitanova took the lead at their home stadium, Palasport Eurosuole Forum, continuing the home team's dominance in this year's Scudetto final. For the first time since the 1991/92 season, the first three matches of the final ended in three sets, each in favor of the hosts.

Trento, which had a 2-1 lead in the series thanks to two home wins, subsequently broke this strange curse and turned the match around. A 7-6 lead in the fourth set, however, wasn't enough to clinch the title; instead, a tiebreaker was needed to decide the match. In this tiebreak, the Trentino team held firm and ultimately secured the championship title with a 3-2 victory (21-25, 28-26, 25-17, 20-25, 15-9).

This means that the starting lineup around Alessandro Michieletto and Daniele Lavia has once again ascended Italy's throne after 2023. Civitanova had claimed the title in each of the three previous years. For South Tyrolean volleyball star Simone Giannelli, the journey in the Serie A playoffs ended in the semifinals. With defending champion Perugia he lost to the now defeated finalist 2:3.
