Daley ends career after Olympic silver

British diving star Tom Daley has announced his retirement after the Olympic Games in Paris.

The 30-year-old said this in an interview with British "Vogue". The 30-year-old had won silver in synchronized diving from the 10-meter platform in Paris. It was the fifth Olympic medal of his career. In 2021, Daley won gold in Tokyo.

Daley had already made the decision to end his career before the Summer Games in Paris. "It felt very, very surreal," said the five-time medalist. "I was so incredibly nervous beforehand because I knew it would be my last Olympic Games."

Son persuades him to participate again

Daley had originally planned to retire after the Tokyo Games, but his eldest son persuaded him to take part in the Olympics one more time. "It's very special to do this in front of my son, who asked me to come back," said Daley. "Now I have a medal in every color."

He had already won bronze in 2012 in London and 2016 in Rio before winning gold and another bronze medal in Tokyo.
