Tamara Drescher made the sporting statement of the day for SC Meran/Raika-Torggler: The 21-year-old won both the ICF Open Slalom in the Women's Single Kayak (K1W) and the U23 Italian Championship. After a strong preliminary run in the morning – second place in 96,82 seconds, clear – she initially trailed Lucia Pistoni. In the final, Drescher improved again, clearing the race to 95,48 seconds, thus taking the lead. Pistoni dropped to second place after a goal error (2 penalty seconds), while third place went to Antonia Plochmann of Germany.
"The first race today was a qualifying race for the U23 European and World Championships, where I finished second," said Drescher. "In the second race, which was then counted as the U23 Italian Championship, I was able to take the win. After the race in Ivrea, which didn't go perfectly for me, I was even more motivated and worked even harder – it paid off today."
Carolin Schaller from Augsburg took sixth place (+1 seconds) in the final of the K3,29W ICF race with a flawless run. Annika Zoe Senoner (17) and Sara Furlan (17) also qualified for the final of the U23 Italian Championships for SC Meran/Raika-Torggler in the morning. Senoner finished sixth with six penalty seconds, while Furlan finished eighth with four penalty seconds.
In the men's single kayak (K1M), 19-year-old Italian Xabier Ferrazzi (Centro Sportivo Carabinieri) confidently secured victory in the open ICF slalom with the fastest time of the day (81,76 seconds) – and simultaneously the U23 Italian championship title. Elias Dietz of Germany finished second, just ahead of Italian Mattia Pistoni.
Jakob Weger of SC Meran reached the final in seventh place, finishing eighth with a flawless run (+5,03 seconds). 16-year-old Marian Drescher reached the final of the U23 Italian Championships, finishing ninth.
On Sunday the program continues with another international open ICF race, the “Forst Trophy,” as well as the European Cup.
