SC Merano athletes qualify for semifinals

A successful start for the two U18 canoeists from SC Meran-Raika/Torggler at the Junior European Championships in Solkan. Annika Zoe Senoner and Sara Furlan showed solid performances in the K1 preliminary rounds and both qualified for the semifinals on Friday.

Senoner finished 104.73rd with a time of 23 seconds and two penalty seconds, while Furlan followed in 105.85th place with a time of 2 seconds (also with two penalty seconds). Both impressed with controlled runs, focusing on a flawless line. "I'm relatively satisfied with my first run – safe and controlled. That secured my place in the semifinals," said Annika Zoe Senoner.

"We have a day off on Thursday, where I'll be cheering on my brother Lars. Friday is the decisive day." Sara Furlan also expressed satisfaction: "I'm very happy with my run. It wasn't flawless, but I still managed to qualify for the semifinals."

Coach Stefan Senoner praised both athletes: "Annika and Sara delivered a solid qualifying run. Particular attention was paid to a flawless run – which they achieved quite well. They'll have to take a bit more risks in the semifinals. Solkan is very tiring, which isn't necessarily our strength, but both will give it their all." The goal of the two Merano athletes remains to qualify for the final of the top 1 via the semifinals on Friday. In the subsequent K8 team race for the junior women, Italy, with Annika Senoner, Sara Furlan, and Isabel Volpato, finished 14th out of XNUMX nations.
