Seven members of the Italian national team arrived on Sunday: Manuel Frigo, Paolo Conte Bonin, Giovanni Carraro, Davide Dalla Costa, Giovanni Caserta, Lorenzo Mora and Luca Serio, who train daily in Merano under the guidance of coach Claudio Rossetto and will be in the water this weekend alongside all the other big names, starting with Olympic champion Thomas Ceccon, who will once again be the big star of the meeting this year.
The organizing committee, consisting of the city's two swimming clubs (AS Merano and Sportclub Merano) under the leadership of Walter Taranto, is presenting record numbers. 938 registered athletes are an unprecedented number for the three-day event at the Lido.
