Water too dirty: Races at the World Swimming Championships postponed

Due to poor water quality, further open water races at the World Swimming Championships in Singapore have been postponed.

As the World Aquatics Association informed the teams, there is still a chance to hold the competitions at Palawan Beach later on Wednesday. The water quality is currently unacceptable, but further test results are expected early Wednesday morning local time. The situation will be reassessed then.

This affects the men's 1.30-kilometer race, originally scheduled for 7.30:10 a.m. CEST (XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. local time), as well as the women's competition over the same distance.

Problems with dirty water at the Olympics too

Water quality limits are intended to ensure the health of athletes. At the 2024 Paris Summer Games, there were repeated discussions about the cleanliness of the water in the Seine. Swimming and triathlon training sessions were canceled. The water quality also affected the triathletes' competition schedule.
