Jaufenburg is far from giving up

This victory is enormously important for Jaufenburg, after all, it keeps the dream of staying in the league alive: As second to last, they are two points away from safety, which is exactly where Ratschings selection sits, having defeated them 2-4 last Wednesday.

Überetsch Eppan also achieved this result against Sarnthein and is therefore still in the race to avoid relegation, even though the bottom team, 2 points behind Jaufenburg, faces a much more difficult end to the season.

Jaufenburg secured the victory at the Hotel Plunhof in Ratschings with a solid team performance. The first match went to Petra Haller of the Ratschings team, who defeated Berta Zöschg 530-508 (2,5-1,5 in set points). Saskia Platter then equalized for Jaufenburg, defeating Andrea Mair with the day's best score of 568-466 (4-0 in sets).

Fugger suffers first defeat Jaufenburg's Sieglinde Prinoth struggled against Ratschings' Edith Pfattner, losing 487:557, putting the hosts back in the lead. Alina Platter, however, stepped up to level the score against Gabriela Volgger 549:517 (4:0 in sets). Jaufenburg then held a 42-pin lead (2112:2070) and celebrated the crucial away win.

There was a surprise at the top of the table, however. Fugger Sterzing lost for what was, admittedly, their first loss of the season, and the old and likely new champions suffered a 2-4 defeat at Kiens. This also postponed the Fugger team's championship celebrations, although they could still take place on Friday evening in their home game against Überetsch Eppan.

The Sarners are pushing upwards For Sarnthein, the 6-2 win is a fantastic result, bringing Franz Obkircher & Co. closer to the top five and providing further motivation ahead of the final three matchdays. For Pfalzen, however, it's something of a sporting coup de grâce—the bottom team needs a miracle to stay in the league.

Falzes are four points away from safety. With three games remaining, they are not only dependent on their own results, but also on any potential slip-ups from their opponents. Nals, which is in the second relegation spot, is fighting for survival with Ratschings Selection, Burggräfler (both two points more), and Lana (one point more). Things are also exciting up front, with both Neumarkt (4:3 against Ratschings Selection) and Fugger Sterzing (2:2 against Kurtatsch) making inroads. Behind them, Kurtatsch, Algund, Sarnthein, and Passeier are battling for third place, the "best of the rest" title.

Sarnthein started with the best performance of the day against Pfalzen, achieved by captain Franz Obkircher with a 616-568 victory over Pfalzen's Johann Hofer. Christoph Thaler increased Sarnthein's lead to 2-0, defeating Pfalzen's Wilhelm Oberparleiter by 568-549 (2,5-1,5 in set points).

Then Pfalzen's Hannes Kaiser shortened the lead against Erich Ainhauser with a 600:575 victory (2,5:1,5 in set points), before Manuel Geier made it 500:482 for Sarnthein with a 3:1 win against Robert Larcher.

A thrilling duel was fought between Sarnthein's Christian Plattner (551 pins) and Pfalzen's Fabian Tschafeller (564 pins). Both earned two set points each, with the match point going to Tschafeller. Josef Obkircher made up for it, defeating Oswald Weger (Pfalzen) 2-592 (483-4 in set points). Sarnthein also had a clear lead in the overall score, winning 0-3402 and thus clinching a 3246-6 victory.
