Currently leading the men's competition are KS Alfa – Vector (Poland), and KC Liedolsheim (Germany) is in the women's competition. The men's team from KK Neumarkt got off to a strong start in their home tournament and is currently in sixth place, even leading by cones average. The women's team from Fugger Sterzing, on the other hand, are in sixth place.
The bowling alleys at the Pfarrhof in Bolzano were already bustling early in the morning. Five of the 15 participating men's teams had already fielded four bowlers on Wednesday and are therefore at the top of the standings. These are KS Alfa - Vector (Poland) with 2340 pins, CS CFR Cluj (Romania) with 2326 pins, KK Posusje (Bosnia and Herzegovina) with 2311 pins, Elva KK (Estonia) with 2200 pins, and BC Dijon CO (France) with 2154 pins.
However, if you take the pin average of each team into account, then KK Neumarkt, of all teams, is in the lead. With a total of 1877 pins after three players, they are in sixth place, meaning they have knocked down an average of approximately 626 pins per player. First to take to the lane for the Unterland team was Slovakian Erik Kuna, who knocked down 660 pins, which was also their best performance of the day. He was followed by Alex Posch with a good 575 pins, and the Serbian Vilmos Zavarko brought up the rear with 642 pins. But the Neumarkt team cannot rest on their laurels, as KSK Orth (Austria), SKV Rot Weiß Zerbst (Germany), KK Zapresic (Croatia), Zalaegerszegi TK (Hungary), and SK Zeleziarne Podbrezova (Slovakia) also have strong averages.
In the women’s category, Liedolsheim leads
The women's qualification began in the late afternoon. One German team, in particular, showed that they were determined to challenge the Croatians from KK Mlaka for their fifth consecutive title. KV Liedolsheim, with their first three bowlers, knocked down an incredible 1866 pins – a truly impressive total, which also puts them at the top of the interim standings. One of their players, Saskia Seitz, also achieved the best women's performance of the day with 631 pins. SK Zeleziarne Podbrezova (Slovakia) is currently in second place with 1746 pins, followed by KK Alimenta (Serbia) with a score of 1713 pins. It should be noted, however, that four teams, including defending champions KK Mlaka, only fielded two bowlers.South Tyrol's representative, the Fugger Sterzing, got off to a mediocre start. Sofia Saxl was the first of her team to knock down 530 pins. Veronika Tock surpassed her by two pins, scoring 532, and Gabriele Bürger finished with the best performance of her team, finishing with 551 pins. This puts the Fugger team in sixth place in the standings.
The remaining qualifying rounds are scheduled for Thursday at the Pfarrhof bowling alleys. Starting at 9:00 a.m., the remaining women's teams will be in action, and at 2:50 p.m., the remaining men's teams will complete their qualifying rounds.
