Strong performance by Leonie Hofer

This weekend, the most important national sport climbing competition – the Campionato Italiano Lead – took place at the Centro Tecnico Federale in Arco. The event featured top-class performances and emotional moments that thrilled the audience.

The men's final was hard to beat in terms of drama. Filip Schenk, who started the final second to last, delivered a brilliant performance and climbed to the top in impressive fashion. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric – a moment that gave us goosebumps.

But the tension continued to mount when Giovanni Placci, winner of the semifinals and currently in brilliant form, was the last athlete to start. He completed the route quickly and precisely, appearing almost unstoppable. Only on the very last move, in the most difficult section of the wall, did Placci fall off the face – securing second place, just behind Schenk. Riccardo Vicentini (Lupi Climbing) rounded out the podium in third place.

In the women's competition, the decision was clearer: The big favorite, Laura Rogora (Fiamme Oro), more than lived up to her role. With a commanding performance, she clearly outpaced the competition and deservedly claimed the title of Italian Champion. Claudia Ghisolfi (Fiamme Oro) took second place, while Sofia Brenna (Arco Climbing) was delighted with the bronze medal.

From a South Tyrolean perspective, Leonie Hofer (AVS Passeier) impressed with a strong performance. After an outstanding third place in the semifinals, she achieved sixth place overall in the final – a remarkable result in a top-class field.
