Pogacar vs. Vingegaard: The first summit meeting

The first summit meeting of cycling stars Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel this year is just around the corner.

As part of their preparations for the Tour de France in July, the favored trio will have their first direct assessment of their position at the Critérium du Dauphiné starting Sunday. Felix Gall will not start in the preparatory race in France; the East Tyrolean will likely tackle the Tour de Suisse a week later.

At the Dauphiné, world champion Pogacar (UAE), two-time Tour winner Vingegaard (Visma) and Olympic champion Evenepoel (Soudal) will be challenged over the eight days of racing, especially on the three mountainous stages at the end.

While Pogacar has already enjoyed a successful spring in the Classics this year, Vingegaard is fully focused on preparing for the season's highlight, which starts in Lille on July 5. Evenepoel, who started the season with a training deficit following his serious accident last December, is somewhat weaker in the mountains.
