Roglic competes in Vuelta after Tour exit

Cycling star Primoz Roglic from the German racing team Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe will start in the Tour of Spain after his Tour de France exit.

The Slovenian recently spent two and a half weeks preparing for the Vuelta in a high-altitude training camp, the team said. The third Grand Tour of the year starts on Saturday in Portugal's capital Lisbon and ends on September 8 in Madrid.

Roglic had to drop out of the Tour this year after a fall, giving up his hopes of winning the world's biggest cycling race for the first time. The 34-year-old is making his comeback at the Vuelta, which Roglic has already won three times.

Well-known support

In addition to Roglic, the eight-strong Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe squad also includes this year's Giro runner-up Daniel Felipe Martínez from Colombia and Alexander Vlasov from Russia. Two German professionals, Nico Denz and young talent Florian Lipowitz, are also in the squad.
