The Kastelruther was the first to reach the striking summit of the 2.300-meter-high Niesen in Switzerland – a crucial point on the way to the finish in Zell am See.
In addition to Großrubatscher, the Swiss participants in particular are holding their own among the top field. The experienced Merano native Aaron Durogati (39) is also in top form and is right up there with the frontrunners. Nevertheless, in this intense race through changing Alpine landscapes, the rankings can change drastically at any time. Next up is turnpoint nine – the mighty Mont Blanc in France.
