After 39 years: Pozzo family sells Udinese

An era is coming to an end for Italian first division football club Udinese Calcio. The Pozzo family, owners of the Udine-based club for 39 years, has now sold the club, according to unanimous Friulian media reports.

A New York-based investment fund reportedly acquired the club for €150 million. The name of the new owner is expected to be officially announced soon. The Pozzo family will remain in the club with a minority stake.

The English club Watford FC, which is also owned by the Pozzo family, is not part of the deal and remains under the management of entrepreneur Gino Pozzo, who continues to aim to lead the club back to the Premier League.

Under the leadership of the Pozzo family, Udinese experienced one of the most stable periods in the club's history: 30 consecutive seasons in Serie A.
