After Modric: Milan also wants Xhaka

Is Bayer Leverkusen facing the loss of another key player? Granit Xhaka is apparently close to a move to Milan.

According to a report by Journal of Sport Granit Xhaka is said to be on AC Milan's shopping list and the 32-year-old Swiss himself is also interested in a move to Lombardy.

Transfer negotiations between the two clubs are expected to take place this week. Xhaka still has a long-term contract with the German runners-up until the end of June 2028.

Milan's new sporting director, Igli Tare, apparently envisions Xhaka joining Croatian veteran Luka Modric (39) in midfield for the Rossoneri. The experienced Real Madrid player is expected to move to Milan after the Club World Cup and fill the gap left by midfield star Tijjani Reijnders' move to Manchester City.
