Fiorentina's Bove no longer in intensive care

Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove is no longer in the intensive care unit at Careggi Hospital in Florence.

His recovery is progressing, as the general director of the Italian Serie A club Alessandro Ferrari announced on Wednesday evening. The 22-year-old has been transferred to the cardiac unit, Ferrari told the Italian broadcaster Mediaset before the Italian Cup match Fiorentina-Empoli.

Bove collapsed during a home match against Inter on Sunday. The game was suspended after he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

"Edoardo is fine, he is recovering and we are happy. We have to be patient and respect him. He has changed stations, so he is feeling better," said Ferrari. Further tests are needed to find out the causes of the cardiac arrest, it was said. It is suspected that Bove is suffering from myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle tissue.
