Genoa has a new owner

The Romanian businessman Danucu is the new majority shareholder of the Italian first division football club FC Genoa.

The owner of Rapid Bucharest has fully subscribed to a capital increase of 45,3 million euros through his own investment vehicle. This means that he now holds a 77 percent stake in the oldest Italian football club, as Genoa announced on Thursday.

Until now, the Ligurian club was under the control of 777 Partners, an American company that bought Genoa from toy maker Enrico Preziosi in 2021 but has been in financial difficulties since June. ?ucu is best known for having founded Mobexpert in 1993, the largest furniture chain in Romania and one of the largest companies in the sector in Europe. He has been president of the Romanian Industrialists' Association since 2021.
