Genoese bliss: Coach gone, points there

Genoa had to wait until the tenth round to finally celebrate their first full points in Serie A. All this happened just a few days after Patrick Vieira's departure.

The former world champion from France resigned as Genoa coach on Saturday, making way for an interim solution: Roberto Murgita and Domenico Criscito. The former striker and the captain, who only stepped down two years ago, promptly led the Rossoblu to a 2-1 victory against Sassuolo.

Another first on this rainy evening in Reggio Emilia: For the first time, Genoa scored more than one goal in a match. Leo Ostigaard secured the much-celebrated winning goal for the port city team in the third minute of stoppage time. Previously, Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi (47th minute) had equalized after Ruslan Malinovskyi (18th minute) had given Genoa the lead.

In the second Monday match, Lazio, who had been struggling recently, secured a deserved 2-0 home victory against Cagliari. Two impressive goals from Gustav Isaksen (66th minute) and Mattia Zaccagni (91st minute) put the Romans on the path to victory in the second half.
