Inter takes full advantage of Napoli's blunder

An early goal against Roma was enough for Inter to take the lead in Serie A on Saturday evening.

The Nerazzurri prevailed 1-0 at AS Roma, who are also battling for the top spot, on Saturday evening. The weakened champions Napoli had previously lost 1-0 at Torino, paving the way for their rivals. Ange-Yoan Bonny emerged as the hero of the evening for Inter. The 21-year-old striker outwitted the Roma's offside trap in the 6th minute, blazing a solo run towards goal, and slotted home with a crisp finish.

Roma only came back in the second half, but couldn't beat Yann Sommer. It was Milan's sixth consecutive competitive win. Inter, Napoli, and Roma now each have 15 points. Milan (13) could overtake them with a home win against Fiorentina. The clash takes place on Sunday evening at 8:45 p.m. at the San Siro.

Napoli unlucky with offside

A few hours earlier, Napoli were missing injured key players Scott McTominay and Rasmus Höjlund. A goal by Giovanni Simeone (32'), on loan from the champions to Torino, handed the southern Italians their second defeat of the season. The defending champions attacked in vain in the second half, and Noa Lang's apparent equalizer (90'+4') was ruled out for offside.
