Milan: The Champions League is becoming a distant dream

At the end of the 26th matchday of Serie A, Milan suffered an away defeat in Bologna and is now eight points behind fourth-placed Juventus Turin.

The last few weeks have not been easy for AC Milan. After being knocked out of the Champions League by Feyernoord Rotterdam, the Rossoneri are now eight points behind a Champions League place. As Italy is currently only in third place in the UEFA rankings, there is unlikely to be a fifth starting place in the Champions League for Serie A this season. This makes the prospects of a top-four place for the current Super Coppa winners all the more bleak.

The seven-time European champions took the lead in the 1-2 loss in Bologna. Raphael Leao put the visitors in front in the 43rd minute. Just three minutes after the restart, Bologna equalized and the Lombards got a cold shower eight minutes before the end thanks to a goal from Dan Ndoye. Milan drops to eighth place in the league table as a result of the defeat.

Serie A, Thursday’s match:

Bologna - Milan 2:1
0:1 Leao (43rd), 1:1 Castro (48th), 2:1 Ndoye (82nd)
