Napoli trembles but remains flawless

Napoli remained undefeated on the fourth matchday of the new Serie A season. However, the champions suffered a nervous defeat against newly promoted Pisa.

Napoli won 3-2 at home against Pisa on Monday evening. While the newly promoted team sits second to last in the table with just one point, Napoli leads the standings, two points ahead of their closest rivals Juventus.

Against Pisa, Napoli coach Antonio Conte made a few changes to the starting lineup. Billy Gilmour was preferred in midfield this time, and the Scotsman secured the 1-0 lead after a Spinazzola assist. The aforementioned left-back then put Napoli back in front with a long-range shot after the equalizer.

After substitute striker Lorenzo Lucca scored the 3-1 goal in the 82nd minute, the match seemed to be over. But Pisa came back in the 90th minute. In stoppage time, Gilardino's team even had a chance to equalize, including with a header, but Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret held on to secure the victory for the southern Italians.
