Napoli wins the Supercoppa

The champions have brought the cup winners to their knees: Napoli secured the Italian Super Cup with a brilliant performance and an outstanding Brazilian.

SSC Napoli won the Supercoppa. In the final of the four-team tournament in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), the southern Italians convincingly beat FC Bologna 2-0 – and had one outstanding protagonist: David Neres.

You write Supercoppa, you read David Neres. With a brace, the Brazilian forward secured the Partenopei's third Supercoppa title in club history, following their successes in 1990 and 2014, both of which were won against Juventus. This time, Bologna had to come up short.

Napoli controlled the match for the entire 90 minutes, impressing with secure possession and high-quality play. Bologna struggled to gain a foothold in the game and were repeatedly overwhelmed by Napoli's quick and precise combinations.

Coach Vincenzo Italiano's team was unable to replicate their strong performance from the semi-final against Inter; instead, Bologna suffered from Napoli's waves of attacks throughout the entire match.

Neres is playing cat and mouse with Bologna

David Neres was the star of the show, simply unstoppable: In the first half, he opened the scoring with a spectacular left-footed long-range shot. After the break, he added another – a delicate chip that ruthlessly exploited a rare but costly error by Bologna's substitute goalkeeper, Ravaglia. Neres was consistently well supported by Højlund, who shone with intelligent passes and dynamic play.

In the end, Naples celebrated a well-deserved victory – and a player who clearly left his mark on this final.
