Venezia's relegation worries are not getting any smaller
Venezia had a long sniff of a real breakthrough in the relegation battle on Matchday 35 of Serie A. In the end, however, the newly promoted side could only manage a draw.

At the bottom of the table, every point is worth its weight in gold – but in Venezia's case, the draw against Torino felt like a missed opportunity. In Turin, Enrique Perez Munoz gave the relegation-threatened visitors the lead with a low shot into the near corner after a spectacular solo run into the penalty area (36'). Despite Turin's dominance, the promoted side held on to the lead for a long time. It was a late penalty, resulting from a handball by Jay Idzes, that dealt Venezia the decisive blow (77'). Midfielder Nikola Vlasic took the penalty, and the Croatian slotted the penalty into the bottom right corner.
This isn't the first time Venezia has let a lead slip away this season. The Arancioneroverdi have already dropped 30 points after taking the lead this season—more than any other team in the league.
The remaining program will be tough
The draw left Venezia (26 points) stuck in 18th place. Given that their direct rivals, Lecce (17th/27th) and Empoli (19th/25th), are playing against teams in the top third of the table, one could certainly say this was a missed opportunity in the relegation battle. Venezia's remaining schedule will be particularly tight: The next matchday is a home game against Fiorentina (May 12, 18.30:XNUMX p.m.), followed by duels against Cagliari and Juventus.Serie A, 35th matchday
