No Serie A: Stroppa and Guerra leave Cremonese

Following promotion to Serie A, Cremonese will not extend Giovanni Stroppa's contract. Along with the head coach, his assistant from Bolzano, Andrea Guerra, will also be leaving.

Giovanni Stroppa has had an eventful season with Cremonese. The coach was sacked in October, only to return to the club less than a month later. After a strong second half of the season, the Lombardy side secured promotion to Serie A in the playoffs – thanks in part to goals from Manuel De Luca.

Nevertheless, Stroppa's Cremonese chapter is over with the expiration of his contract on June 30. The 57-year-old will not receive a contract for Serie A, the club announced on Friday. "Thank you, Mister, for the emotions we experienced together," the club wrote in a short statement.

In addition to Stroppa, his coaching staff will also be leaving the club. Stroppa's closest confidant for years has been Andrea Guerra. The Bolzano native is assistant coach and has been at the head coach's side since Stroppa's time at FC Südtirol.
