Favored Bologna suffered a bitter 1-3 home defeat against Cremonese in Monday evening's Serie A clash. Martin Payero (31st minute) and Jamie Vardy scored twice for the visitors (34th and 50th minutes), while Riccardo Orsolini netted the Rossoblù's only goal from the penalty spot (45+3). Manuel De Luca was not in Cremonese's squad.
The first half was disastrous for the home side. Cremonese were efficient from the outset, ruthlessly exploiting their early chances: Payero opened the scoring with a superb shot into the right corner, and shortly afterward, Vardy made it 2-0 following a swift counter-attack. Bologna took some time to find their rhythm but created dangerous opportunities through Orsolini and Pobega. They finally pulled one back in stoppage time when Orsolini confidently converted a penalty.

After the break, Bologna pressed for the equalizer and significantly increased the pressure. However, Cremonese remained dangerous on the counter-attack – and their efforts paid off: just five minutes after the restart, Vardy scored his second goal to make it 3-1. From then on, much of the game was played in the visitors' half. The Rossoblù collected corner after corner, but squandered several half-chances and were also thwarted by Emil Audero. Even a controversial handball incident in stoppage time didn't award Bologna a penalty. In the end, Cremonese defended their lead calmly and snatched three points from the Dall'Ara.
