Bayern defender moves to Monaco

Defender Eric Dier is moving from FC Bayern Munich to AS Monaco, the French first division club announced.

The 31-year-old Englishman did not extend his expiring contract with the German record champions. Dier thus moves to the principality on a free transfer. The central defender has signed a three-year contract in Monaco.

Dier has been with Bayern since January 2024. He entered the current season as a substitute. However, due to injury-related absences in defense, he slipped into coach Vincent Kompany's starting eleven in the spring and played in the two Champions League quarterfinal matches against Inter Milan (1-2, 2-2).

Dier was also the last player in the league and played a major role in the league title win. He made a total of 47 competitive appearances for Munich, scoring three goals. He previously played for Tottenham Hotspur for ten years.
