Arrest in Spain: Morata threatened with death

According to media reports, Spanish police have arrested a 19-year-old in Málaga on suspicion of threatening footballer Álvaro Morata and his family with death.

The threats were sent via the arrested man's personal account on a social media platform after the national team captain missed the decisive penalty in the Nations League final lost against Portugal in Munich, reported the sports newspaper AS and the newspaper La Vanguardia citing a police statement.

The suspect tried to exonerate himself by filing a police report, claiming that unknown persons had “stolen” his social media account, he wrote. ASHowever, an analysis of the young man's cell phone is said to have revealed that he was the author of the threats.
