Barca sorts out former regular goalkeeper ter Stegen
German national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen completed a solo session at FC Barcelona's training start. The 33-year-old worked out in the gym and trained on the fringes of the group, as the club itself announced – not without first pointing out the first training session of new Barça goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

The 24-year-old, who joined from city rivals Espanyol, is reportedly set to become the new number one at last season's Spanish treble winners. Captain ter Stegen, on the other hand, is set to leave the club. The German international goalkeeper has not yet made any further public comments. His contract with FC Barcelona is valid until June 30, 2028.
Barcelona also recently extended the contract of 35-year-old former Polish international goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, whom the club brought in during ter Stegen's extended absence due to a serious knee injury last season.
Club gives no reasons for ter Stegen's solo training
The club did not explain why ter Stegen did not train with the other 35 players at Campo Tito Vilanova on Monday evening. Spanish media also did not provide any reasons for the solo session.Hansi Flick is said to have already sought talks with ter Stegen. © ANSA / ALEJANDRO GARCIA
According to media reports, Barcelona's German coach Hansi Flick informed ter Stegen on Friday that the German goalkeeper is not a regular starter for the upcoming season and has both García and Szczesny ahead of him. The situation is delicate for the German goalkeeper: A permanent bench role at club level during the World Cup season could also affect his situation with the national team.Edit Profile
