Mbappé saves Alonso's league debut at Real Madrid

Star striker Kylian Mbappé saved Xabi Alonso from disappointment in his league debut as coach of Real Madrid.

The French international scored the only goal in Los Blancos' 1-0 win against CA Osasuna on Matchday 51, taking a penalty in the 90st minute. Mbappé had himself been fouled in the penalty area by Juan Cruz. In stoppage time, Osasuna's Abel Bretones (4+XNUMX) was shown a red card for rough play.

Until Mbappé's goal, Real Madrid were overwhelmingly superior, but also lacking in decisiveness. The short preparation period of just under two weeks, due to their participation in the Club World Cup in the summer, was clearly noticeable.

Nevertheless, Alonso should be satisfied with the three points in his first league game as Real Madrid coach. The former Madrid player had already emphasized at his presentation that it would take time before he could implement his vision of a successful and attractive brand of football like he did at Leverkusen.
